I'll keep my eye on this thread too as I am new to Violin music. Itzhak Perlman is one of the greatest living violinists today so if you see his name its a good sign. I've been digging into the past through Youtube and found some great Virtuoso's of their day like Grigoraş Dinicu, and Heifetz (Keep in mind the recordings aren't very modern but these guys are true virtuosos). Some personal favorite works are Czardas by Monti La Ronde des Lutins - Bazzini Hungarian Dance No. 5 - Brahms Zigeunerweisen - Sarasate Paganini and his 24 Caprices and so much more... I really love Gypsy music above anything when it comes to the violin.

.Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, "From The New World". Antonin Dvorak came to America from the Czech Republic in 1892 to be the Director of the National Conservatory of Music of America. This is his impression of America. You can hear influences of ***** spirituals and plantation songs. You can see the vast land that Dvorak interrupted in this work. My favorite is the sound of an owl in the forest played by an oboe. The premiere was performed at Carnegie Hall on Dec 16, 1893 to overwhelming ovations. This is America by new immigrant

I think it would be a toss up between Symphony No. 25 in G Minor, 1st Movement - Mozart OR Beethovens Piano Sonata 14 (moonlight sonata)
