Do you know this book?

I read this book a while ago but all I remember is everyone over about 21 or under about 14 disinigrated or melted or something, and teenagers where the only ones left in the world. I forgot the author and title. Can anyone help?????

It sounds like "Shade's Children" by Garth Nix. A story set in a future world where all adults have mysteriously vanished, only those under the age of 14 remain.
