My husband filed for a divorce. Dont get me wrong this makes me so happy. Just for the fact that i had the papers but didnt have the money to file them. Anyway my questions are after i sign that i have recieved the papers what happens after that? We still have bills that need to be paid how do i get those known to him and the judge? I live in a different county and do not have reliable transportation to where he is how do i ask to change the venue? (He lives 4 1/2 hours away)

1. You will be notified of a court date that you will appear before the judge.

2. You will get a chance to discuss financial issues after your first court appt. You will list out assets/liabilities and can request that they be listed in the divorce decree as to who has to pay what.

3. Change of venue probably not going to happen since he filed. If you would have filed first he would have to come to your county. You can request with the court but more than likely they will tell you to find a lawyer in the area if you can not make the court appearances.

I'm not really familiar with divorce procedings but the best way to find out the answers to your questions is to ring the court house or the divorce office and explain the situation about the bills and the travelling
