For example, it is believed to be bad luck where I live to keep a conch shell inside your house. A conch shell is kept outside the door to 'keep the sea out of your house' and to bring good luck to your home. A conch shell inside the house will bring the sea into your house during storms.

I am a member of the Navajo tribe which is part of the four corner states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

Owls are considered bad omens. When you hear the hoot of the owl, it means someone died. So if you know someone who is Navajo, don't give them anything with an owl on it. Not even Harry Potter's little friend.

The biggest superstition that I know of is that most people think that if they believe in Jesus then they will live in heaven forever as an angel while everyone else is being tormented by demons in a burning hell. Pretty weird, huh?

The ones that I've heard of out here in the country are as follows: If you piss in the road, you'll get a sty in your eye. Play with fire and you'll wet the bed. Bend a nail while hammering it and your peckers still growing.

I moved away from south Jersey more than 20 years ago but I have to admit that I still can't say that I disbelieve in the Jersey Devil. I think there's something out there, but I don't know what it is.

From N'awlins "Vodoo Captial"... If you place a hat on a bed "bad omen"... If a woman places her purse on the floor "guarentee's she will stay broke".... If a black cat crosses you from the left "good omen".... if a black cat crosses from the right "bad omen"....If you right hand itches "money will leave you"....If you left hand itches "money coming your way"...if your ears itch/burn "someone is talking about you"...if your nose itches/burns "someone is talking about you REALLY BAD" there's more but enough already.

In Ireland : If you catch a leprechaun you can keep his pot of gold. I've yet to meet a leprechaun that lets me keep his, they always want it back.
