Socialism is a fraud. Marx and Engels lived off inheritances; there are no traitors to that class, which is proved by the fact that socialists are such bossy snobs. Aristocracy must be abolished. Politics, as misrepresented by the choices given to Chavez, is just a food fight in a prep school. Castro himself came from the upper class--until that automatically disqualifies him because people finally come to the realization that nothing but tyranny and incompetence comes from the spoiled, the South Americans will just bounce between rotten right-wing governments and rotten left-wing governments. Chavez seems like a typical peasant who has to worship the rich, so when the rich offer this phony socialism he falls for it and the Venezuelans will sink.

Of course not. He was ellected by the people and the people will reelected him soon. It's up to the people of Venezuela to decide, an US imperialist intervention, yes, imperialist, would only make things worst and would be an illegal war. And don't blame Chávez for what is happening in other Latin American countries, to say that he is dragging Latin America into socialism is ridiculous.

Socialism will collapse on it's own weight. It doesn't need intervention. It isn't a fast process, but an inevitable one.
Chavez should only be removed by his own people. Unfortunately, poor countries are wonderful breeding grounds for socialist dictators. When you have nothing, sharing that nothing with everyone else doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

Clearly he is doing nothing of the sort. A closer comparison to Hitler would be bush. War for the sake of power, loss of civil liberties, ignoring the Geneva convention, etc.
holbrook---please get a mind before you speak. Torturing people because they are not "technically" soldiers is asinine and immoral. Forgetting that it is immoral, it has also proven time and time again that it does not work. They eventually tell you what you want to hear, whether it is true or not. As for using the media to propagandize, ever hear of Fox News?

Yes he should be removed from power, Latin America has enough problems without him adding to it. He should remember what happend to Manuel Noriega in Panama. Capu do you even know what the Geneva Convention says? If you did, you would know we are doing nothing wrong...the Geneva Convention only applies to UNIFORMED SOLDIERS of an ESTABLISHED army...the use of CHURCHES, HOSPITALS, CIVILIAN BUILDINGS, or AMBULANCES OR A FOR MILITARY PURPOSES (FIGHTING FROM THEM) makes them fair game...please read these documents before you talk about the...remember the media only wants you to believe what they say...remember Hitler used the media to take over Germany....

Although you push it aside like it is a light thing, the fact that he is voted in by his people is important. If we profess to be a Democracy ourselves, and we profess to respect the people, then we also need to respect their will when it comes to their choice of leaders. I do agree Mr. Chavez is planning something much greater than we now see, and he is currently finding success in his plan. However, we need to take the high road. We need to get other countries to open their eyes, we need to cut off our reliance upon oil, we need to be an example to the people of Venezuela.
If someone were to take him out, like an assassin, I would not be sad.

It would be nice if he somehow was removed from power.
Funny, for a man who accuses Bush of "imperialism" 24/7, Chavez is the one influencing power in other countries.

Yes.... He is yet just another example of a tyrant that has taken over a country for his own personal gain.
He is an insane and dangerous man. He needs to go.

well.. they seem to be choosing socialism...
you can't force your style of government on someone... if they want a socialist nation... and it's democratic... then that's what they will have...
do you want to bomb Europe too, since some of their countries are partially socialist?
