I think murdering a baby by cooking it in a microwave is a bit different than someone drinking or doing drugs.

Sterilization? You are turning the clock back if that is what you believe should be done, because, in fact, it was perfectly legal in the USA as late as the 1960's. The mentally retarded and career criminals were systematically sterilized and this was upheld by the Supreme Court. As the Court put it, one or two generations of degenerates is enough. But after WWII and discovery of Nazi experiments to create the type of people they wanted, the USA kept their own "elimination of future undesirables" quiet. However, many states still sterilized the mentally handicapped in institutions as late as the 1960's.
I've heard of some professors and so-called experts in social work defend the idea of evaluating people's capability of rearing children, and if they fail the tests, they should be sterilized.
What a shame that a program such as that is making a comeback because a small percentage of women kill their kids.

Sad thing is this is probably going on right now somewhere else. It is not the first time or the last. People like this should have their tubes tied. Female or male. People who kill their children should never be aloud to have children again. Luckily her baby is in a safe place and can never be harmed again.

I agree. Sterilisation in return for a shorter jail sentence would drastically reduce the overall crime problem over a generation or two. It's about time we tried a radical approach to criminality because the one we have is not working.

We had a father in a nearby town cook "the devil" out of his baby- I was freaked out on a van ride to a work conference that one of the girls- from another part of the company-admitted that she was the mother! She had met him in Vegas and married him within 2 days-like that wasn't a clue! She was still visiting him in the "looney prison"!!!! Her whole aura was beyond! CREEPY!

I totally agree. People are mentally ill should not be able to reproduce. This story appalled me when I read it. I really hope that people get a clue and start making reproduction laws to prevent this sort of thing.

Well, tragic as this is - if you are so keen to throw away yet another freedom - you will have to consider who you are going to ban. Would you include alcoholics and drug users for example?
