Fear of a name increases the fear of the object itself.
Saying Voldemort only brings to mind the sorrows that poor Harry Potter has had to live through...after all, if it weren't for him, Harry would have grown up knowing exactly who he was and not have spent years living in those horrible conditions at the Dursley's.
