He used his real name.
It's a sort of double-bluff, as noone would believe that was his real name.
I know Anthony Blunt used his real name, but noone knew he was a spy at the time.

Just wait for your current south Indian g/f to dump you, then we will see how much humorous you find south indians to be :P just kidding about the above statement,of course we all hope and pray that such day never comes and you remain glued to each other like fevicol kaa jod. I think you are being subjective ,those seductive love chemicals in your brain have created a kind of chemical locha and you are being blinded towards reality and facts. I agree with kandy ,It just depends on the person, nothing else! :D there are people with amazing wit and humor from both parts of india ,so very hard to say who is better and it is also a question of preference for certain kind of humor .Some might prefer South Indians over North Indians and vice- versa. btw where does that leave people from western part of India ,like ones from mumbai and rest of west India.

I think it's just a code name, that's the way I would explain it. His designation is 007 "licenced to kill". But when Ian Fleming first wrote it that was 007's name.
In real life they wouldn't.

Personally... I agree with you. They shouldn't be using their real names. It would get everyone killed. And Second. I don't like the new james bond. Why? He ain't A james bond. Period. He just don't fit the Bond part.

I don't think they use their birth names in the field. The have to use a code so that it doesn't jeopardise their personal life.

His actual name was Jimmy Ivankruchenstien. However they felt it might be hard in the field to use that.
