Or do i need the mass air flow regardless of regular air filter or cold air intake?

OH and the check engine light is on. and the parts place said we need to replace the mass air sensor, thats why I wanted to find out the bypass senerio.

Check and clean the connectors on the MAF sensor before replacing it. Might be, if you're lucky, just a bad connection.
Like the others have said, you can't bypass it.

You must have the MAF connected properly and working even if you put a cold intake on. Your computer needs this to regulate the air/fuel mixture under different loads.

well there are ways to bypass it you will need some type of resister not saying which one you will need :P

but your best best is to clean it off and try it again

also try cleaning out the throttle body or carberature which ever it is ur truck has ( go to ur locol auto store and by some cleaner to spray in it) thats what i did on my car after puting in a cold air intake and it ran better,

also make sure your vacume hose is securly placed were it needs to be.

you need the mass air flow sensor as this is linked to the brain and controls fuel intake, fuel/air mixture, idle, etc.

to remove it or bypass it will make your truck run like a 72' dodge.
