Mine did at about 6 months but it may have been 6 months and a few weeks. He will do it when he is strong enough. Don't let it get to you people always asking what he is doing and make you feel like he should be doing more, it's annoying and it makes you worry needlessly. He's working on it and he will get there in his own time. To help i often set the baby in the middle of the boppy pillow so it offers a little support. It's great when they do sit up because then you can use the seat in the grocery cart and high chairs in restaurant. My problem always was that they outgrew their infant carrier car seat before they could sit up on their own really good. It'll happen and soon since he is trying now. My kids are 5 and 3 and still fall out of their chairs sometimes when their goofing around.

Sounds like your son is doing great! All babies develop at different rates, so don't worry too much about what other people say right now.
I love those little round butts! I tell my 4 month old daughter all the time that she's got the cutest little tush!

I had my son sitting on my lap at restaurants at 4-5 months. That was with support from me though. He started sitting up for moments on his own @ about 5-6 months, falling over of course. I used his Boppy for support behind him for about another week or two before I let him try on his own. By 7 months he officially pulled himself up from laying down at age 7 months and was sitting up on his own.
But all babies are different. And all kinds of people ask questions like that, along with other's. Your baby will progress as he sees fit. You are in all ways blessed with a bundle of joy & that's how I handled those questions when asked, "he's doing great".
Good Luck & Bless You!

Every baby is different. At six months as long as a aba by can hold his head up and make some type of sound, like ga ga or ma or da or anything at all, you have nothing to worry about. By eight months he should be able to sit without support, and sice he is already trying you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy your beautiful baby, they grow to fast as it is. And tell everyone else to shove it!

All babies develop differently...my son was sitting rather wobbly at 6 months also...he could supporrt himself on his arms for a few minutes before tipping over. At about 6-1/2 months he started doing it on his own.

Just try adjusting his legs until he gets steady. Spread them some. That helped my daughter when she was sitting up wobbly. She finally started crawling and pulling herself into a sitting position at about 7mos. She is now 8 mos. She still looses her balance.
Pretty soon, he'll start taking of, crawling, sitting up, standing...then walking!! It'll happen quickly. Just enjoy his dependence on you. It doesn't' last long!!

if ur baby has already started to sit for short periods then it won't take more than a month for him to sit for longer durations.
