I'm sure your parents will be around for quite awhile. I know what you mean though. When I left for college I still had to call my parents a lot to help me. Don't worry, your parent arn't going to disappear out of your life, you will always be their little child. Which might actually get annoying in time, oh well.

Sounds to me like you have very supportive parents. Good on them. As for finding your own way, I can give you the advice of someone who has been doing it all on my own for a long time. Jump in the deep end. It's a bit scary, but I did it. Worrying about it and not doing it will only lead to a progressively deepening fear which will cripple you if you let it go on too long. Just take the plunge.

Whether it's a car, a job, or a place to live you're looking for, get your nose in the papers or get down to the car yards/job agencies/real estate agents and get the ball rolling. Ask questions. It sounds like you've got a better support network than I had, so if you have niggling questions like 'is this car okay for $1000?' then you'll probably have someone to go with you and help you make the choice.

Remember that this is an exciting time. You're gaining your independence and freedom. You get to make your own choices. You'll have a few more responsibilities, but I reckon it's worth it to not have someone nagging you about doing the dishes when you don't feel like it. ;) Enjoy the journey.

How old are you? You must read ; KahilGibrans words from The Prophet page : 17 ; on Your Children. Surely , you are old enough to know that one day your parents will die. When they do they will still be with you..don't you think it is your responsibilty to honor them by being the best you that you can be? Take time, make time to read the writing of Kahil he was a century old mystic & prophet. You owe this to yourSELF.

Someday when your parents are completely gone from this earth, you'll have the joy and peace of noticing that they still 'live on inside you'.
Have you ever heard jokes about, "oh my God, I've become my mother!" ? All that our parents have done for us have left its mark on our psyches. You will do things the way they did, and find yourself noticing things that they would notice, and think, "dad would've said this ..." or "mom liked that".
It's heartwarming to find that we, as saplings, have sprouted from our 'parent' tree.

yes you are nothing without your mom and dad.,but there will be bigger things in life later on. like your marriage, have kids. your wife/husband depending on gender will matter more to you in life. of course make sure you stop by alot to say hi and help them. Lol
