If its in a cool area then about 2-3 hours, if its in a warm area then only about 30 mins to an hour. If its left out any longer than that you need to throw it away.

The bacteria in milk thrives at temperatures between 77 - 101 degrees F. Most work places are not nearly that warm. Your milk will not spoil anytime today, if it's below 77 degrees.
Depending where you are located, the coolest place might be in your car. You could also place the milk in a sink and run cold water over it to keep it cool.

You might get away with up to 5 hours depending upon how cold the milk is to begin with and how warm the room is where the milk is being left.
Bacteria grows more quickly in warm situations therefore if you are in a warm climate, consider at least packing it in ice if possible which should then keep it relatively cool til you get home.

That's WAY too long to leave out of the fridge. Is it cold where you live? If so you could leave it outside or in a sink full of water with ice. A $3 gallon of milk is not worth getting sick over!

Milk that isn't refrigerated loses its nutritional value within 30 minutes. I would suggest getting rid of it, aside from the nutritional deterioration you don't want to end up with an upset stomach from drinking something that has had several hours worth of bacteria breeding inside it. It's not worth it!

Whole milk = whole day
2% milk = 2% of the day.
Just kidding. I'd guess not much more than an hour or two. So you better start drinking it or find a refridgerator.
