Here are a few ways I use:

Write articles, and submit them to article directories all over. Include a link in your resource box.

Blog as much as possible with unique content, with a link to your site.

Post in forums related to your site, and include a link to your site in your signature file. Contributing to the forum atmosphere instead of just flat our advertising will build trust in the forum community.

Exchange links with other sites

Submit your link to as many link directories as you can

You can get onto servers for free... but the best way, tried and tested is to pay! Google do offer some benefits free with an adsense account! There are a lot of affiliates too... but a lot of these are scams! You would get the same results! I used SEO they are good!
