Picked up and held by police for a couple of hours (purchased and possessed a very small amount of weed) years ago had a trial that was dismissed. Seeking a job that requires a criminal record check done by the merchant marines, so I imagine it will be pretty thorough. Will this show up and prohibit my employment?

The job in question is with a major cruise line. The criminal record's search will be done by the merchant marines. The problem arises from a case that was dismissed (bought and had small amount of weed) after having been picked up by the police, held for a couple of hours, released. Will this prevent my employment?

In Canada it would show up but not prohibit employment. I do not think you have anything to worry about even if it does show up and you will have a chance to explain anyway.

it would show u went to court and a case was dismissed. happened to my friend here at work. he got fired over it. i think possesion of marijuana will show. Be honest and tell them that you had that happen. then lie and tell them that it was the officers mistake of what he found and thats why it was dismissed. my dad was a merchant marine and travelled everywhere and made good money as a 2nd mate. His capt was Harriman. Good luck man

if you're arrested then your criminal record will teach that arrest, no matter if the expenses are later brushed aside. it is going to teach that the expenses are brushed aside. job applications usually deal with this through how they word the questions that they ask. The questions might want to ask "have you ever been convicted of an offense better intense than minor site visitors expenses" which, for sure, you are able to answer no. from time to time the questions ask once you have ever been arrested, yet maximum are framed in the "conviction" mode.

yep.
you may want to check it out with a lawyer though and then talk with the merchant marines to see if there will be a problem.

Depends.

If you commit any crime as an adult it will be on your criminal history, if it was dismissed or not.

As a juvenile, unless your adjudicated as an adult.... No.
