is there any way that sony can put a copyright on the ps3 so no one can buy it and re-sell it on ebay... that is them just being greedy and thinking about themselves.... it ruins the fun for the people who actually want one to play and keep.

No there is no way to stop this. I really want one to keep and it is sold out untill after Christmas. I hate that people are selling it on ebay for at least $700-$2000. I even saw one for 3500.

No. First, copyright protects only expression, not any ideas. Second, copyrght law incorporates the "first sale" doctrine, which means that once you've purchased a copy from the owner, you have the right to turn around and resell that copy (thus, used book stores and used videogame stores. This, of course does not mean you can COPY your copy and sell it, or that you can necessarily destroy or modify the copy and sell it.)

What they can do is prevent you from using their copyrighted images to promote your sale (i.e. no copying web images from Sony's website). In addition, through simple contract law, or through patent laws, they may be able to restrict who sells their products. But that's for another day.

That is the point of living in a capitalist society. If you want it bad enough, you either camp out at Best Buy for 3 days or you pay several thousand dollars. Stop being so greedy yourself!

So you have a problem with Americanism, entrepreneurialship and private rights? great - go live in Khazakstan with Borat.
Your anger should be guided at SONY and other big corp bullies for using highly illegal and narcisistic marketing techniques to taunt and tease the american or worldwide markets.
If SONY marketed and distributed normal channels - the high demand (which was falsely created by SONY) would be satisifed and you would not see what is going on.
They are under distributing to cause a false high demand which leads to the hype, fights, shootings, anger - and they are laughing at all you idiots who participate. you are all like little white lab rats falling prey to their experiment.

No. If you purchase one, it is your property to do with what you choose. Just like anything else...
