Entry: genre
Pronunciation: 'zhän-r&, 'zhän-; 'zhänr; 'jän-r&
Function: noun
Etymology: French, from Middle French,
1 : a category of artistic, musical, or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form, or content
2 : KIND, SORT

Genre is a general term, not a specific category, GEEZ, what is wrong with education these days?

If such films gain a specific group of people who become enchanted with it and go again and again, like Rocky Horror, it would be termed a cult film, but the term "niche" would also apply.
