my son came home from nursery school on monday covered in paint. i sprayed the paint marks with vanish pre wash, left it to soak in for a while, then i washed them on a hot wash with biological powder. most of the paint came out, but the black paint remains.... i've washed them again, but the stains are still there. the paint is supposed to be water based poster paint, but i'm at a loss as to how toget rid of it. any ideas on how to get black paint stains out of fleecy cotton jogging trousers ??? sensible answers only please !

Karen...I'm afraid that the stain has already set after your washing's...Had you not washed them, I would have suggested mechanic's "GO-JO" hand cleaner, without the grit...That's what pro painter's use to remove it, should they accidently get paint on furnature material when re-doing a house...It really does work...
Try it however, Apply ample amount on the stain, rub in vigorously, let stand for an hour or so and machine wash as normal...
It may still work however...If you can't find the product I mentioned, others will work, as long as they are water based... .
Other than that, take them to a drycleaner, they will get it out with spotter's...All the best...Yuke

If it is a water based paint, you can use a paint remover called Goof-off this works great on dried latex paint and can be used on most clothing, if it is oil based try using nail polish remover that contain acitone. May be harmfull to some clothing.

I would not do any thing just leave it (these are the paint trousers, and now you can paint any thing you want, as long as you have these on) see on stain or stains it will be cheeper to go out and buy a new pair of trouesers....(paint, work, garden, the messy things these are the pants you will have on ect....)
Good luck..

i have this problem all of the time, there isn't usually day when my daughter doesn't have paint on her, i found that soaking it in cold water and washing up liquid with a bit of soap powder usually removes it. or you can buy some spray stuff called elbow grease,it isn't too expensive.

Goof Off, Goo Gone or WD40 they all three work without staining or ruining clothing or anything.
