That's a rhetorical question if I've ever seen one.One guy,the one who you're obviously looking for people to say,would never and did never have any degree of fame until it was found out he taught Steve Vai,who eventually overshadowed him in technique,virtuosity and creativity,along with more than triple the income and record sales.Yngwie changed the face of modern electric guitar playing as we know it.His style has been mimicked by millions of recording artists.
It's Yngwie hands down.I've had students that have been playing for 3 years that can pull off what Satriani does.I've had 12 year players that still couldn't get some of the Yngwie stuff.But the fact of the matter is,once you reach a certain level,there is no better,just different.
Unfortunately Yngwie is a failure as a person,I met him in Poughkeepsie NY in the early nineties.I'd rather hang out with Satriani,but you know which one has made a bigger impact,though you'll choose Satriani.
