We are sending out a card with a picture inside it. That way the holiday portion of the gift (The actual card) can be thrown away but the picture can be saved in an album, frame, or on the fridge.
We found it was cheaper, too. The portraits were taken at target ((no sitting fee, free 8x10, and the lowest per sheet prices). We ordered a few sheets of wallet sized portraits and I found really cute cards...18 cards for $4.99. To order the pre-made cards would have costed much more!
Good Luck, and Happy Holidays!

I am torn on this one. I like the idea of a separate photo you can keep in an album, but I like the photocards because they commemorate a specific occasion and they are signed. You could easily frame the photocard, too.

I like the photocards better. You can just throw them in the photo shoe box after the holidays and have them forever. As for the x-mas cards witht he pics in um, the pics get lost, you need a frame for um and then you just throw the card out anyways. Thats my thought!

I love getting photo cards and I save them all in a photo album. If you worried about people just tossing them, choose only those people you feel really close to and send them the cards. I prefer the regular photo cards, not inserts because they have the date and name of the family and I don't have to try to stuff a whole paper card in my album or throw out the part that has the message and signature. Happy card hunting.

A separate photo would be better.People can throw the card, but don't think they will throw a real photo.Furthermore, they can just slip it in an album. They can even return the photo back as a birthday present to that particular person buy placing it in a photo frame.

This is what we do...they make christmas cards that you can just slide a photo in...we get those and put a picture in them so they can throw away the card and keep the picture. It's great for aunts and uncles that you aren't buying presents for but want to give them something a bit more than an impersonal card.

I make photocards of my family on my computer and I think (even hear from several of them) that they are more appreciated than regular cards. I always keep the photocards and throw away the regular cards.
