My doctor told me to start taking it the first Sunday after my next period ended. My period ended yesterday (Monday) morning. Is it okay for me to wait the whole 6 days until Sunday, or should I wait until next month? After I start taking the pills, how long will I have to wait before having unprotected sex in this case?

Edit: My mistake. He did say the Sunday after my period STARTED. My problem still is that I would like to be protected by one month from now, no more. The real question is: Will I be protected by then if I begin taking the pills 6 days after my period ends? (My period is normall always a week late anyway)

It depends on what sort of pill you are taking. Usually you should start it the first sunday after your period STARTS, not ends... and if your doctor told you that he is kind of wrongheaded.

You can start taking the pill on sunday, or you can start taking it now... usually there is a labeling device of some sort in the packet that allows you to remember that your first day is a monday or tuesday or whatever. Since you aren't starting during your period, though, your protection is not that good for the first packet. Planned parenthood (link below) says you will be protected after seven days, but read the instructions for your particular packet, and you might want to use a backup method for the first pack.

i believe for some the placement is a controversy of replaced circumstances, no longer a decision to "placed off" abortion till it really is a lot later and unlawful. some pregnant women would develop into extra annoying in the route of the right of being pregnant, increasing their fears and probabilities of desiring an abortion now to not indicate willingness to bypass for it. different pregnant women would with out note see their husband or boyfriend--father of the youngster--go away them, or another similar situation concerning to help takes position. nevertheless others might want to have their father and mother or father of the youngster locate out of the being pregnant late contained in the being pregnant after the female tried to cover it previously then. even as they get carry of an detrimental reaction from family contributors, this new condition might want to compel or a minimum of inspire abortion. I question what number women available surely have late time period abortion, or any abortion, purely "for the hell of it." i'm male, and that i'm no longer in contact contained in the abortion procedure in besides, yet my knowledge is the technique is often problematical for the female (for one or extra causes) and by no ability something each person would pick to proceed to seek out as a remember of recurring. perchance those who've had diverse abortions are doing so for a handful of causes. some would compared to condoms. Others see commonly happening birth control fail as will each and every from time to time take position. (Statistically it really is envisioned some abortion sufferers will adventure being pregnant in spite of birth control.) In a small minority of circumstances, abuse might want to correctly be a situation, the position a male refuses to apply a condom or something and then compels abortion if a being pregnant takes position. In any adventure, i'm no longer sensible, nor am I prepared, to make blanket assumptions about those who get abortions. demands of non secular leaders aside, that's nevertheless no longer a uncomplicated remember.
