Life is cruel, and sometimes you just have to get through it. Great things cannot last forever. They, like all things, will die with time.

With that question you have revealed the true nature of the world and also the secret to happiness or peace which is accepting the impermanent nature of the world and non-attachement to the external world. If you can achieve this state there will be a joy and lightness to your life. It is the end of suffering.

Situations, things, people will come and go from your life and here will be no 'clinging', no neediness, no pain on their departure. You can learn to enjoy those things.........while they last.

You will be able to enjoy the cosmic dance of life.

As soon as attachement and 'wanting' comes into play there will be a heaviness and seriousness to your life that will hinder it's enjoyment.

I have an answer to the question 'What is the secret to happiness?' It is accept the impermanenet nature of the world.

The same reason that all bad things also come to an end. Nothing is permanent. Life is static. All things come to an end.

Are you asking ~ 'Why DO all things come to an end' ...?

If they didn't, then you'd never be able to appreciate them, never be able to learn from them and likely as not, overdose on them.

You might as well ask yourself 'Why don't I orgasm all the time' ~ if having an orgasm is so damned good!

If you were a surfer, you might like, for example, to ask Why it is that there is not wave that just goes on and on?

How boring that would be! And just when n where would you stop / be able to, have your dinner, or tea or even a simple snack (let alone to 'finding a shop to purchase your snack from!) eh?

Cummon. get with the programme.
Sash.

Because nothing goes on forever. Like, if you're eating a good cake, you'll come to the end of it, sometime. (Did you think your cake would last forever?) But bad things come to an end, too. The old proverb is, "This, too, shall pass away."

Because if good things never came to an end, things would be permanently good, meaning we would not think it any special, therefore there would be no esepcially good times, because the permanent good times would just be like the norm.
Hope that makes sense!

Good ceases to have meaning without the existence of bad. You can't fully appreciate your highs unless you've experienced lows.
