that's how it works.
the hormones in BCPs fool your body into thinking its pregnant. It won't allow the sperm to fertilize in the body if there's already something there.
that's why you have to take the placebo at the end of the cycle, so your body can get back to normal and have a regular period.

The pill will make you have pregnancy symptoms. The pill makes your body think you are pregnant. But, the pill can not turn a pregnancy test postive. If it did women would be all confused, all the time. You might have been not pregnant and when you start the pill if you are sexually active it can increase your change of getting pregnant at first. That is why they say give it a month or two before you let go on other birth control like a condom. That chance is very small though. I would not take any more pills right now, that can harm the baby. Go out right now and get another test and take it right away. Then even if that test comes back negitive, call the doctor. Tell them you got one or two postive test. What ever you have. I hope everything works out for you! good luck!

First and foremost, you need to see you doctor right away...
Is it possible that you became pregnant after your last period but before you started the pill on 11/12? Also, the pill doesn't work right away, they usually say to wait 1 or 2 months for it to start working and you should use backup methods like a condom in the meantime...
Oh, and the pill doesn't make your body think it's pregnant or give you a positive test. All it does is prevent your ovaries from releasing an egg, and in general makes it harder to get pregnant by thickening your cervical mucus so that it's harder for sperm to get up there and thinning your uterus lining so that it's harder to creating a lining for the baby.
Good luck.

A doctor once told me that there was no "false" positive when a pregnancy test was done. Apparently you are pregnant and the thing with the the first test you did (that showed you negative) was that you were probably too early to take it. The pregnant hormone wasn't strong enough to be detected by the test. It happened to me when I got pregnant with my first boy. Plus, the only thing birth control can do is reduce the amount of blood of your period and stop the cramps. But this does happen only after a few months you've started them.
So, congrats! You are pregnant!

The hormone that is detected on a pregnancy test is not introduced through a birth control pill. It is true that the pill tricks your body in a way into thinking you are pregnant, so you shouldn't ovulate. But it won't make a pregnancy test positive. I would take another test. If it is possitive than you should see your doctor

Well...If the test is positive then I don't think the BC would be tricking the test into saying that. I was on the pill for awhile and also had a pregnancy scare...but when I took the test they all said negative. Maybe you should go see a doctor. Or if you really think it could be wrong, take another one.

Your body takes time to adjust to the pill, including spot periods, heavy periods, breakthrough bleeding, and all sorts of side affects. Just keep taking it like you're supposed to. There are also all kinds of reasons you could be pregnant. Your period was Oct. 23, and you started the pill halfway through the month. If you had sex before you started on the pill, you really could be pregnant. Also, taking any other meds with BC, even tylenol or midol, can reduce the effectiveness of your pills. You need to talk to your doctor or one of his nurses and have them explain the processes of birth control.

You must use another form of birth control the first 4 weeks while on the pill. If you had unprotected sex before that month was up and the tests say positive, you are pregnant. The directions say this and doctors tell you this.

No...the pill would not give you a false positive. However, I suggest you take another test ASAP. The pill will not protect you 100% against getting pregnant.
ALSO---There is a slight chance also that you could be taking the wrong dosage...which will not help your chances of being protected.
Good Luck!

the mini pill does trick your body into thinking it's pregnant, that's why your period will only last about 3 days. spotting is normal for maybe the first 3 cycles. if it continues after 3 months you may want to check with your doctor.
now mind you, if you missed taking your pills, it is possible that you are pregnant, and the pill is not 100%.

Pregnancy test hardly give out false positives. Go see your doctor before you take another birth control pill to make sure because they can harm the baby if you are pregnant.
