Everyone is different when it comes to the depo. I went on the depo after my first child and it stopped my periods completely. I also lost weight, and was still able to maintain a small figure. i stayed on the depo for two years, then decided to stop using it cause i wanted to have another baby. So i was off the depo for a year and then i got pregnant for my second child. Once you discontinue the shot it should only take up to a year to for you to be able to have a baby if problems still keep occurring you should talk to your ob/gyn. Good luck.

The depo shot made me gain serious weight, not the 5 pounds they say you can gain over a years time, but 9-10 pounds every month. I took the shot 3 times, and had no period for 18 months. I gained 80 lbs total off that shot, and ended up pregnant without missing a period because I wasn't having any. I went to the doctor because I thought I was pregnant, and 3 urine, and 2 blood tests were negative, so they started me on premarin to start my period so that I could start taking the pill. Well, I had a period for 3 weeks and got very sick. I asked the doctor when should I stop taking the pills, then I was told that I should have stopped taking them when the bleeded started. I almost passed out while I was driving on the highway, so I went to the hospital. They asked if I was pregnant, I told them no, and told them about the pills I had been taking. They did a urine test in the ER, then came back an hour later and asked if I had taken a pregnancy test before I started taking the premarin, I told them yes, as a matter of fact I had taken the blood tests at that same hospital in the Admitting dept.. They pulled those test results, then told me that they needed a clean urine catch, which they obtained with a catheter. They came back an hour later and told me that I was pregnant and should follow up with my doctor, and released me at 5am (still bleeding). I was at the doctor's office when they opened and the doctor examined me and said "they didn't tell you? You had an incomplete miscarriage, go back to the hospital to admitting and I will meet you there, for a D&C". Don't do the Depo shot, it will mess you up. I didn't even know that it did not have FDA approval until 6 months after I took the first one, even though the military has been using it for a very long time. This was about 15 years ago, but still, get plenty of information before you decide what to take. Also after that incident I got pregnant 2 months later, but she has severe issues, epilepsy, adhd, odd, I don't know if any of this is connected, but start asking a lot of questions of your doctor.

Please stop getting the contraceptive injection, I had a friend who was on it for 2 years and it took her another 5 years after coming of it to conceive. I was on it for nearly 10 years, it was recommended to me as I didn't want anymore children and I was suffering heavy periods, but for you I feel this would be the wrong choice. Eventually it makes your body think you are menopausal and it can give you bone problems, it also causes lots of other problems eventually weight gain and I am not talking a little weight either, now I am off it the weight is falling off, I did go up three dress sizes, I am not trying to scare you but you don't need this injection, it will mess you up. Now when I was on it I didn't have a period at all, which was fine by me as I didn't want them anyway, I am now using the merina coil and my periods still haven't returned, and the doctors think the injection may have put me through the menopause early, I am only 33, as I have had night sweats and hot flushes, not pleasant I can tell you, I have had to be tested for osteoporosis too, and my hormones are all over the place.
Get off this thing as soon a possibly safe. It will mess you up, possibly forever, if you want children do get of it as it has been proved that it can also make you infertile, I read this somewhere on line but can't find it now for you sorry.

It can take anywhere from 6 months to longer for Depo to get out of your system. IT messed me up. It took me 18 months to get pregnant after getting off for my 2nd child, then I got back on it. Then it took another 12 months to get out of my system to have my 3rd child. It can stop your period completely, which can be a good thing, but sometimes when it does come back, its not regular. It comes and goes. I gained a lot of weight, some people report having hair growth in the wrong places (chin, stomachs, etc) I switched to a pill, but I have been having issues with that for the past 4 months. My husband would like to have the option of another child, but if this keeps up, I will just get my tubes tied and call it a day. LOL

I can understand your frustration!!!
I was on the shot once for one cyle only, three months, and it was horrible! I gained some weight because of it and was extremely moody. These reasons made me not go in for my second shot! When I didn't go in, I had my period for 47 days straight!!! We think 7 is bad!!!! I was miserable, but evenutally my body did fix itself and my period became regular again, but it took a few months. If it has been since July 2004 that you had your last shot, I would definitely go talk to you doctor!! They might be able to help!!
Good luck!!

i did not benefit any weight because of depo. i in my opinion replaced into on it for 4 years. I were given my very last one in March of 2004. And concieved February of 2006, and nevertheless have a three week previous infant. i comprehend that it really is amazingly, very complicated..yet there is various wish that it will ensue. I were given to the point that i imagine my hubby heavily idea about commiting me because I enable it dissatisfied me a lot. My OB/Gyn suggested that I ought to provide it yet another 6 months and then she ought to attempt and resources me some meds (like clomid). properly, i really replaced into againist that notwithstanding i really needed a infant, so I choose at hand it off to the guy upstairs. i replaced into blessed with a satisfied healthful infant once (earlier to depo) and figured if I enable flow it ought to ensue back..and it did. i'm particular through identifying to take that body of concepts, it led to the shortcoming of rigidity that I positioned myself in which had a huge impact. they say rigidity outcome cycles and that i really believe it. see you later tale short..definite I did have worry yet each thing were given again heading in the right direction. good success.... and ~*~*~infant dirt~*~*~

The depo screwed me up, too. Constant period for 3 months was enough. My advice, if you want children later in life, Stop the Shot now!
