I just sat down at my comp. for my coffee break, hoping to have a pleasant time here. I switched on my TV also and heard the horrifying news that a mother in Ohio has been arrested for cooking her infant in the microwave. It has made me physically sick. Some people are worse than animals. Animals would never do something as bad as that. Do you feel that you must turn the TV off and throw away your newspapers sometimes? Does it all get to be too much for you? Maybe I'm weak but, sometimes I can't take it for a while.

Yes, the news journalists try to sensationalize everything and are often not accurate. But, the police were interviewed and said that Drs. at the hospital where the infant was taken said that her burns were those caused my microwave cooking. The mother says she didn't do it but, my point is - somebody did! Savages!

Typo - that should have been 'by' micro cooking not 'my'.

First of all, there are animals/insects that eat their young. Secondly, yes I am horrified and wonder what had become of the human race. It appears we (humans) have all lost our common sense, our compassion, our hearts. Something is very wrong with people today and I'm not sure how it happened.

People like to blame video games and rap music (neither of which I am fond of), but I'm not sure they are the problem. I do know that people want everything instantly (instant coffee, microwaves, internet, emails) and have no patience. Maybe because no one is patient? People have become more rude and obnoxious. Is this because we lack patience and are free to say whatever we want?

No, you're not weak, you just still have a lot of human left in you.

It has come to the point where I no longer watch the news. My boyfriend mocks me for constantly watching sitcoms. My answer for that is I'd rather be watching something mindless that continue to indulge in the violence in the world. I fully believe that everyone should be aware of what happens in the world, but sometimes it feels like too much, nothing good or redeeming is ever shown. I just can't take it anymore.

I agree. Sometimes I find myself yelling at the tv about a bad story like the one you mentioned and I have to turn it off. Yes..there is so much bad in this world and sometimes you just can't take it all in. You are not weak, just human.

That is utterly sick. Some animals eat their young or leave them on their own. I can't say either is worse. It would be nice to hope that humans had compassion, but some are just screwed up.

The news is reality. It's all real. If you can't take it, you can't take life... Yea some of the things I see and hear in the news is disturbing but it doesn't really phase me anymore.
