I have 2001 chevy s10 and I am trying to change the coils spring, front and rear shocks and the leaf springs. I am pretty handy when it comes to automotive repairs but never changed those items. Is it something I should attempt on my own.

its not hard, but can be a pain. shocks are easy, but springs and coils can be dangerous. you have to have a coil spring comressor to help install, and that is a bit dangerous, but if you pretty handy, its shouldnt be too hard

I own a 2000 chevy cavalier z24, i recently change my stock springs out for some lowering springs and it was realy easy, i only need a hand with starting the nut on top of the spring plate to keep it all in place. But if you are replacing with all oem parts then it could be a little harder i would highly recomend going to napa and renting a spring compressor or searching online for a cheap spring compressor from somewere, i wish i had one when i did mine, if you have a spring compressore you could do it by yourself easily but i didnt have one, but with lowering springs it was way easier then putting the oem spring back on for sure.

its a two man job and you better have the right tools for the coil springs they store a lot of energy and can ruin your day if released wrong. It is a job for a shade tree mechanic just be careful.

if you got the right tools then you can do it yourself,i did once.what you need is some j-hooks for the frone springs and if your going to change the leaves in the back, you need a c-clamp and new center bolts.its more time consuming then any thing else, but yes you can do it yourself, like i told you,you need the right tools.

it ain't easy, it takes two or more people who know what they are doing and can work together and it requires the proper tools. Best done in a shop where a vice and other special tooling is available.
