I'm trying to order something online for x-mas present and I know that I'm a size 28 waist or sometimes 27 depending on the pants. What size would that be? 3/4 or 5/6?

A 27 or 28 inch waist would usually be a size 7/8, although it depends on the retailer. HTH : )

Every brand and style is different. Your waist size could have no meaning if your looking for low raise pants. You really need to reference a size chart from the company you're ordering from.

that's probably more like a 5. I wear a 5 and my waist is 28"

A good, reliable company will have a size chart on their website that will give you that information. All cloths are different. A size 3 in one brand could be a 5 in another.
