the class of a person is not something that is learned or unlearned, it is an assignment. Though I do not approve of the caste or class system as it exists now, some of the concepts may be useful, respect and others. As far as your question, children are "taught" their class from when they are born until they are old. The "unlearning" of a class would require getting out of the society enforcing the class system and entering a society that does not use it, then assimilating yourself into that culture. Though I would still say that some of the respect and other honorable concepts that exist in the class system should be maintained, the system itself is inherently flawed.

Short of it: It is learned from birth onward based on how they and their parents are treated. Unlearning it would require getting out from the influence and forcing yourself to change your outlook. The outlook change is easy, it is the emotional and psychological effects that are difficult to get away from.

As soon as they are old enough to understand, it should be drummed into their heads that ALL HUMANS ARE EQUAL!!!!!!!!!!! They should NOT look down upon anyone, because society says they should. THAT is NOT an acceptable reason. This type of reasoning belongs with those who would believe that slavery should still exsist. It's the same thing. Don't you feel any pity for "untouchable" children? The people who go along with this class business are nothing but hypocrites.

In gods world we are all created equal. Don't let anyone ever make you feel less than they are. I have known people of all walks of life. Some people are nice and some people are not. People that are well off but look and act just like people less fortunate are the real people. That class of people no matter what your income or status is the class you should strive to be in, It's called first class.

Well, my children have learned that even the lowest, poorest appearing people can be the happiest so seeing as we, my family, do not judge on appearances, only on actions or the lack of, we don't have "class" issues.

I am in America but I know that other countries and societies have class status so......

You must mean this question for India where they have a class system. We don't have that system in the USA. Currently we only have rich and poor. The middle class has been eliminated.

Hopefully, they never learn it. Can it be unlearned? Tough question. I suppose that depends on a persons beliefs and morals.

well i know that when i was like....5 or six...the kids really started to seperate, i was considerd "untouchable" i guess b/c no one ever talked to me, and i didnt wear very good clothes b/c my family is poor. i know that they never really like me. But also now that ive reached my junior year in highschool, we still have the social class, but we dont care about it nearly as much. its not much different from skin color to us, its there but we dont care, well some of us do...but not all of us. I dont think it can be un-learned, but it certainly can be learned....

From the minute they are born. And if their parents subscribe to the 'class' model. However, if one moves above their station, it is difficult to truly feel comfortable in that space. A lot of therapy and self awareness is needed, in addition to etiquette training!
