We had these very kind people move in next door, we live in townhomes and given a ground level patio, a little garden in back and front,
Well my neighbors are pigs, ciggerette butts alll over the ground, they do not can their garbage, you can only imagine the flys we havbe in summer time, she grows huge tomatoe plants, about 6 ft, tall , five big bushes, the property is an eye sore. and un mantained.

Now I am affraid to complain, i really like these people as a person, but I am not happy with even inviting people over because my neighbors property appearence. It is so close it is bothersome,
what would you do?

I also live in a nice upscale commuinty, and thats what i pay for. my taxes are great and I want my propoerty up kept,
and because it is townhomes it is concidered private property.

I dont want to be the rat, but I have concidered moving because I have worked so hard to livwe in this nice area and I feel bombarded by this mess.

Call your city service director (or someone with the same job description). Some cities do not use the title "service director". Anyway, that person will come and examine the place and if it is in violation of city codes they will give a warning and so many days to correct the violations. It's not right to even consider moving because neighbors came in and are messy. Get your city involved--that's why they're there.

I would call the association that manages your townhouse community. I would hope that from a professional standpoint, they will address the issue with your neighbor without telling him that you were the one complaing. Another option would be to go to your neighbor in a diplomatic manner expressing your concerns. Sometimes people really do not know how much of an offense or negative influence that they have on their neighbors.

One thing that I have learned is that people who have never lived in a house often do not understand that there are rules of courtesy that go beyond just being nice and minding your own business. I had a neighbor who didn't take very good care of his lawn and it looked TERRIBLE. The guy also had two abandoned cars up on blocks in the driveway. He figured that because it was his property, he could do whatever he wanted. The guy genuinely had no idea that he was causing property values to go down in the neighborhood and that he was creating an eye sore for the community.

Dude... It could be worse... You could live in Florida!

If you do... and you can, move! That's what I'd do!

I can't move yet... and a messy neighbor would be the least of my troubles so don't pout and imagine how very much worse it COULD be? My neighbor mows his crappy half dead lawn, with a house arrest security ankle bracelet on his leg... In shorts! And I live in an expensive area... But that never does you any good in Florida... I think they build nice houses around the freaks and weirdo's.

There... maybe that will snap you out of it. At least your neighbors are nice to you! Mine brought cinnamon buns on our first day here and never spoke to us again but talk ABOUT us at great length, to everyone else ever since...

i would bring this up to there attention! if they are kind as you say they may feel bad!
don't be mean bout it ..
just let her know how you feel she/he can't read your mind!
invite them over and ask them if they have a difficult time putting there ciggerette butts into a can!
or buy them the stuff they need as a "=Gift" here i just thought you would need a trash can hense the trash everywhere
