I caught my husband watching videos of kiddie porn. He said he deleted them off the hard drive, after I told him that 21 people have recently been arrested for the SAME thing in our town. He said that since he deleted them off the hard drive, the cops can't trace it to him. Is this true? It would be MY computer taken in a raid (with his hard drive AND mine in it). Part of me wants him to get in trouble because he has no clue about the consequences of ANY of his actions. Part of me wants to give him ANOTHER chance to see if he changes like he promises. Can they still find him for kiddie porn if he deleted it all?

I am leaving him, so there will be no kids. He promised me before that there will be no porn and he went back to it again. So I don't see him changing.

Before worrying about the law, worry about yourself and your kids!!!! Get the hell out of there and report him to the police. Child Porn is an abomination and those who view it, and produce it should be burned at the stake, after being burned with acid, after having their privates bitten off by a rabid dog. Your husband is disgusting, and if you stay with him, you are endorsing his behavior, and putting children at risk.

And anyone giving you tips on how to get rid of the evidence, you should be ashamed of yourself. What if it were your kids he's looking at?

Firstly, there is no way that it can be deleted from the hard-drive, it merely means that the area can be reused with new material being placed on top of the old - in your case, the porn. The police have programmes which can lift the original images even after a long period. If payment was made for the images, it can aid to tracing your husband. If he received them from another source by email for example, he again can be traced. However, if you do nothing, will you ever feel at ease when he is with some of your nieces and nephews or neighbours children. It is a sickness and he should be brought to the notice of the police. If convicted of the offense, he is most likely to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register (and rightly so) and if you are in the US, this is readily available to local residents. So, all in all, he has made a right dog's dinner for you all. He has put you in an unenviable position and you and he must decide what the correct thing is to do. At the very least, the hard drive must be destroyed............... and any photographs or other images in paper or disc form must also be destroyed. Personally, I would report him to the authorities and let him take his chances.......

Firstly, I honestly think you need to leave your husband. He has a very serious and sick habit. Under no circumstance is child porn OK. Your husband has some sort of a mental disease, That is NOT normal and he needs to be in therapy before it spirals out of control. He may of deleted everything off of the computer but the police have specialists that can find ANYTHING on a computer, even the deleted items. Take things slow for right now and get him into therapy and hopefully this will end but you should know that he has to WANT to change for his self or things will continue as they are. If he refuses therapy, which he probably will then say OK, I'll let you do this your way but if this happens again, your gone. Now here's how you can check to see if he continues. I'm sure he's smart enough to delete the files after viewing but as long as he hasn't cleared the history folder, everything should still be there. Just go to your search option (under the start menu) and type "history" into the search area for "all files and folders" Allow all the results to come up and locate the history folder. You can now open the history folder and view everything that has been done on your computer and it will list the date it was viewed and everything. Good Luck to you.

First of all-let's call it what it is: Images of Child Sexual Abuse. All "kiddie porn" is an actual photo or video of A crime in action-a child being molested or raped. Should you report that to the authorities? ABSOLUTELY YES! Can they still find the deleted material on the hard drive-yes, a good computer forensic examiner can find it. More importantly, there is a possibility they might be able to trace the images back to where they originated which could mean saving a child from continuing harm. YOU NEED TO REPORT THIS NOW!

Not only is it still on your computer but if you every take your pc in for servicing any tech who finds it will be obligated to call the cops on you. How will you be able to defend yourself if they accuse you of watching kiddie porn?

Also even showing interest in kiddie porn is a serious sign for concern. DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT! allow your children or anyone else's children near your husband until he has talked to some kind of therapist. And still be suspicious even then. Just because you don't see him watching Kiddie porn anymore doesn't mean he isn't and people who get aroused by that sort of thing usually escalate to molestation. The only thing that's needed is opportunity. I know you don't want any child harmed when you could have done something to prevent it.

It is still possible to catch him even after he deleted the files. Also the site he downloaded the file from has his IP address. Personally I am disgusted. I know that you love him but some actions are irredeemable. Those videos and picture are made at the cost of children's lives, pedophilia is the darkest and most evil crime imaginable. He may not know or care how much these children have been hurt or scared.

THE LAST THING YOU SHOULD ALL BE DOING IS HELPING HER PROTECT HER HUSBAND. What the hell is the matter with all of you. As was said before pedophilia is a progression, from viewing to actual abuse. I am truly sorry for what you must be going through but you have a higher obligation here.

It's extremely difficult to delete all remnants of a picture file from a hard drive. In fact, with deep resonance scans (done by the FBI) they can reconstruct completely deleted files.

The computer, as it downloaded the image, left a trace file at your ISP (Comcast or whatever), so even if it was completely deleted, the FBI will be able to tell the file was transferred through your ISP to your computer. Your computer also left information at the site from which the image was downloaded, so if the police seize that machine, they will be able to track the download back to your computer.

Which brings me to the main point - why haven't you turn the SOB in to the police? He's a sick pervert, and should be thrown in jail. Don't protect him. The next step is living out his fantasies on defenseless kids. Call the cops!

This isn't a man you need to be near.

Curiosity is one thing. Having been curious, he should then have been repulsed and sickened. Going back to the well proves something, doesn't it?

He needs to get some help. Something is seriously askew in his head if this sexual content continues to interest him. While there is not a proven link (despite all the statements above) between viewing and DOING, it's enough of a red flag to end your relationship.

Get the hell out now.

And if you keep that computer, get rid of the hard drive, the network interface card and change ISPs.

Good luck, lady.

First and foremost is he was watching kiddie porn......this is disturbing, I hope he doesn't end up on a dateline special! And you can never really delete anything off a computer, they can find anything that has ever been on a pc. Had I caught my husband watching kiddie porn I do believe I would have to take a step back and examine what and who I really married.

Have you thought about the children in your community? Have you thought about the lives of the children who are exploited in kiddie porn? You have a responsibility to your community. Call the police and report him!
Backup your own data on a separate disc first if you must, but don't let this pass.
I don't know whether they can find the porn on the computer now; it depends on his skill at getting rid of it, and his continued self-control at not downloading more.
How can you stay in the same house with this man?

It's not for me to tell you how to live your life, but don't you find it at all disturbing that your husband is turned on by the sight of CHILDREN engaging in sex acts? Also, do you have any children of your own? If you do, can you be 100% sure that he would never molest them? And authorities are much more vigilant about online kiddie porn now, so if your husband doesn't kick his nasty little habit, his luck is bound to run out at some point.
