I am throwing a baby shower for my sister-in-law in Feb. I need some good ideas for food, decorations, party favors, activities, and more that doesn't cost much. Maybe things I can use from around the house, or make for next to nothing. She is due at the end of March, and she is having a boy. Please Help!

A great thing to decorate with - and would make a great gift to the new mom too - is a "diaper cake" I made ond for my girlfriend and she LOVED it.... You can find the instructions here:

Have fun - good luck - and enjoy being an auntie!

for food you could make it a pot luck. games: go to a dollar store and pick up some things do this over the course of the next couple of months picking up 3-4 things each time.
Get 2 decks of cards, keep 1 aside put a few wrapped gifts in the middle of the room. use 1 deck and hand out the cards to everyone there until they are all handed out(don't worry if some people have more than others) Shuffle the other deck and start turning them over the person with that card hands it to you then gets a gift from the middle when all gifts are gone from middle they start to take them from those that have them .when all cards are done the people with the gifts open them and get to keep them.
make little paper booties to pin on each guest: tell them that they are not to cross there legs while there, if they get caught by someone they lose there booty(s) at the end of the party the one with the most booties gets a prize.
Get a tray and put several items on it.(a pencil, dice, playing card or whatever you have) Show the tray to your guests and tell them that they have to memorize what is on the tray (only give them a few seconds maybe 10 to look) they then write down what was on the tray and the one with the most correct answers wins.
Cheap decorations can also be found at a dollar store.
Hope i helped have fun

You can look on-line for games on baby shower games and print them up. You can also go to a party store and get favors very cheap. Food wise you can have spaghetti and some type of meat, It is a baby shower it is for the mother.. For the gifts for the games just go to a dollar store they have nice things. Picture frames, nail items.etc.....
For decorations go to the party store they should be cheap. do not over do it... You still have to get the babies stuff.

For ideas on the shower, decor and activities check out this site..
www.babyshowers.info. They have party themes and free games, (the safety pins and rice is a good one). There are a variety of sites out there with plenty of ideas some free and some not. Just type in baby shower in yahoo search and explore. On ideas for food, chicken wings, or sweedish meatballs, tuna salad and crackers, cake and punch always works !! Good luck.

You could have finger foods that you could make yourself. Hot wings, lemon pepper, barbeque wings. Barbeque meatballs, Pasta Salad, salad. They are all easy to make and not too expensive. You don't have to have party favors. Just have prizes for the games. The clothes pin game: you give everyone a pin and give them a word they can't say(BABY) if they say it then whoever catches them takes their pin. whoever has the most wins. You can also play baby bingo. Make a bingo board and copy it. Have everyone guess what gifts she might receive and when she opens the gifts mark them off. And you can have as many winners as you want for that.

For my baby shower my mom found a recipe online for soap..she used blue food coloring to make it blue and baby oil to make it smell like baby bath...she molded it into some of those big plastic easter eggs...and found these little bitty rubby duckies to put on top...when the soap dried, she took them out of the molds and they would float in the water! It was pretty cool...everyone loved them..we also played games like baby shower bingo, the yarn around the belly game, and she would give away prized to the winners...(just some cheap scented candles or something like that) I think if you go to babycenter.com they've got baby shower ideas too...

Have it in your home.

Make in in the afternoon (after lunchtime) and just serve some finger foods. Get a bag of light blue balloons and tie them up everywhere. I don;t really know what you mean by not costing much though. You need to spend money for a party if you are expecting people to bring gifts.

You can do the shower game where everyone guesses the size of her tummy with either toilet paper or the little gift ribbons! And whoever wins gets a prize! And there's a game with rice that I can't remember all the rules to but it's fun. Try that website I found. It helps!

I would get some cheep gifts from the dollar store. Candles ect. Have everyone bring diapers and wipes. For every package they bring give them a raffle. Have a few raffel drawings and let the winners choose the gift from a table. Good luck

We did a celebrity baby theme for a freind. Did games with matching baby name to celebrity and one on movies about babies and name that tune from our CD favor. Prizes were movie candy (from Target about $1 a box) and microwave movie popcorn. For food we just had popcorn, twizzlers, candy. And for favors made cd's with movie songs. Decorations were just foily stars.
