When Wisconsin hasnt beaten anyone all year to justify their ranking...they beat on the @ss of a weak big 10, they didnt play Ohio St., and they lost to michigan...and look at their non conference opponets....pretty weak!
San Diego state 2-9
Buffalo 2-10
W.Illinoise 5-6
Bowling Green 4-8

And for Penn St.? Why should that win be anything special, when Notre Dame killed them...then michigan AND USC beat Notre Dame..so the win over Penn State is nothing special b/c USC killed a team that killed Penn St.

Sorry michigan, your "quality" wins are not so quality and are not better than beating California and Arkansas along with Notre Dame.

Because that is all the Maize and Blue can hang their hat on.

Also, the pollsters, who are 'in the know' gave a lot of credence to those victories. Michigan is a really good football team. They did not get blown out by the consensus number #1 team in the country. While the final score of the Michigan/OSU game was not as close at it seems, Michigan was competative. Are they better than USC--probably not. But what's the point? USC is ranked higher in the BCS (and all the other major polls) than Michigan, so the Maize and Blue supporters are just blowing a lot of hot air.

I don't think that anyone is claiming Penn State is a quality win.

As far as Cal and Nebraska go, Cal lost to Arizona and Nebraska lost to OK State; I certainly wouldn't call those quality wins either.

Granted, the Michigan non-conference schedule was not as tough as USC's, but the Big 10, while not as strong as it usually is this year, was far better than the Pac 10; the ACC was the only conference worse.

The eyeball test tells almost everyone the Michigan is better than USC, and on January 8th, it will be proven when OSU beats SC by at least three scores.

Well blame the BCS. Wisconsin is ranked what 7th? With a conference as big as the Big 10 (11) they can't play every team...the Big Ten needs to split and have a championship game like the SEC and Big 12. But Wisconsin is a perennial contender for the Big 10 and have exceeded the predictions of so called experts at the beginning of the season.

Oh my. Penn State SHOULD crush them, if they're as good as they're ranked. That being said, Michigan has a lot of good players, and if they play like it, they can beat Penn State under a few conditions: Morelli would have to have a bad game, The Penn State Defense would have to play like they did last week, Michigan would need a big play or two. (which they have some big play potential because of team speed)

MIchigan has their chance and couldn't get the job done. Look forward to a match-up with USC in the desert. Hey, a Rose Bowl in the desert. Go Buckeyes!

Wisconsin has quality players, thats why that was an impressive win. the big ten was a little bit weaker this year because lots of players went to the NFL.

dig it.

The BCS system only works if there are 2 undefeated teams at the end of the year.
