Statistically, crime appears to be on the rise. However, in my opinion, I think it is generally more publicised than it used to be. People are becoming more empowered and are reporting crimes more than say 50 years ago. Even as early as 50 years ago, telling someone you were raped, for instance, was taboo. Society has changed their outlook on things of that nature so more and more people are reporting those occurances.
So, do I think we are more violent then we were 50 years ago? No, I just think we are becoming wiser and have more self-respect, making us more likely to report crimes.

I think were much more violent today than 50 years ago. There are more guns and gangs, with resultant murders, drugs probably plays a huge role. I believe the statistics of violent crimes will bear this out. My thoughts are this is partially attributed to what is promoted in television and the movies and having two working parents, so there is not enough moral teaching my the parents.

I don't think there's there's any question that we're more violent now. I'm talking about personal violence and not wars. I attribute it to the Me Generation and the lack of regard for each other. We're too wrapped up in ourselves, hedonism, etc. I think music, movies, and video games have fed off the violence and vise-versa.

Well Lord yeah! We're 1000 times more violent, there's a lot more weapons (thanks to technology) and a lot more people, so of course there's gonna be more just because of the volume of people. 50 years ago, life was so much more simple. There was crime, I'm sure, but you didn't hear about it as much as you do now cause it's just gotten out of control!!!

We are still violent as always. Humans are peaceful and very violent.
2 Things have changed:
- Less people are afraid of God (Judgement Day)
- We have more sophisticated tools to do more harm in less time using less effort.

No, I don't think so. Not per population anyway, we just hear more about it. It sells advertising for the media more than than good news.
