The first appointment is the longest appointment. The nurse will ask you 1000 questions about your health and genetics, the father's health and genetics, your parents and grandparents health and genetics. Then she will ask lifestyle questions: drink, smoke, pets, depression etc. Then you will be given a full exam: weight, blood pressure and urine sample(which will also occur at every subsequent visit). You will also be given a pap, pelvic, std checks and a breast exam. Depending on how far along you are you may hear the heartbeat and you may be scheduled for your first ultrasound. If you have a lab on-site you will have about 37 tubes of blood taken to check for EVERYTHING that you are concerned about. It's not bad really, it's just time consuming.
Congratulations and good luck with everything.

I got a pap, they did blood work and urine test (to confirm pregnancy). they gave me literature on what to expect from the appointments, foods to avoid, excercise, stuff like that. Then they scheduled me for an ultrasound the next week. You may get one that day, but they will probably schedule it since they are booked separately from the OB appt's.

Lots of questions about your health, measure your weight, do an internal exam and pap smear, lots of blood tests, overall medical exam, give you a goody bag, listen to your questions, some will do an ultrasound, some won't depends on the office and their equipment.

Congrats!!

you doc is going to ask you questions about your family history and the babydaddy's family history, draw some blood, and do a transvaginal ultrasound to determine how far along you really are.
