I want to purchase stockings for my wife for Xmas but I want to make sure they are good. I want them to be soft, RHT is a possibility, and sexy...my question is more leaning towards what material is best for this effect of sexiness?

All the stockings that have been recommended so far are not what you are looking for. You want 15 denier 100% non stretch nylon, for the effect that you want. RHT is the most common style for these, but they also come in seamless sandlefoot, seamed sandlefoot and full fashioned.
I usually wear the RHT in fall and winter with pumps and boots, and the seamless sandlefoot for summer . The seamed and fully Fashioned are for special occasions if you know shat I mean. www. stockingstore.com has a huge selection of these types. Just look for the links that say ultra sheer, or RHT.

I like really silky nylons. I can't stand scratchy or sticky stockings, so I always get the ultra sheer kind. You can get the all nylon ones that don't stretch in 15 denier, or the stretch kind from Aristoc which are 10 denier, but actually thicker because they contain Lycra. Both are very slippery, and nice looking, it depends on what she prefers. The 100% nylons come in RHT, the Aristoc in sandlefoot.
I am assuming you mean the stockings that need a garter belt, they are usually more sheer than the hold ups, which are like pantyhose legs with elastic tops.

Get 100% non stretch nylon stockings of 15 denier or less. They are the sheerest and sexiest and come in RHT. Next best is Aristoc 10 denier stretch stockings, they are not as sheer , but easier to fit and wear.
I personally prefer the real nylons, but if she is a novice to wearing stockings you may want to try the stretch ones. Beware, most stretch stockings are terrible, but the Aristoc are very nice for stretch. You can find them all at stockingstore.com

I like the ultra-sheer nylons that come in the RHT and Full Fashioned styles. they look the shiniest, and my hubby would love me wearing them 24/7 if possible, but we have kids to look after, so its only half the time that I get to wear them. Mine are 100% nylon, no Lycra no stretch. As the others have said, the biggest selection is stockingtore.com. I prefer their RHT500 style.

something silky and thigh high's with one of those things that go around her waist thas has the hooks to keep the thighhigh's up. My husbans loves them,.
