No.

It's hard to even take the question seriously, with Carter and Clinton still on the public stage.

No, he is in the top half, and perhaps even in the top 25% of all Presidents. Historically his tenure as President will most likely be seen as a successful Presidency. There is a chance that like Carter the historians will fail to notice the good he did. But unlike Carter, Bush has the best economy ever and that will most likely be his legacy.

Bush's biggest mistake was not endearing himself to the media, by holding himself above it they ignore the positive aspects of his presidency to focus on the war.

No, he's not the worst president in history (Hitler was worse).

But as far as US presidents are concerned, he went out of his way to undermine democraty, private liberties and freedom.

I didn't even mention the threat he represents to global peace, or the desastrous impact he had on the national deficit.

So, in turn, it would be difficult to find a US president with such bad record.

Ok, seems like we're missing a few sources in this thread:

* Undermine democraty: Do you remember the way he was initially elected and the protests in Washington?
* Private liberties: Just look into the Patriot act and its implications.
* Freedom: Have you guys visited the Statue of Liberty post 9/11 ; that's pretty said, you are treated as a potential terrorist rather than as a tourist.

* Threat he represents to global peace: His simplistic division of the world between good and evil is a good start for a war (that is actually the same view as the one terrorists have - just with an inverted view of who's good or evil). Also, the lack of fair judgement to the guys (who don't have an opportunity to show that they are innocent) he arrests in arabic countries is detrimental to peace, and is fueling enrollment to extremist mouvements.
* Desastrous impact he had on the national deficit: Just google "national deficit" and you'll see what I speak about - and rember, it will have to be paid back at some point

Yes. And to the others - it's not media-inspired hatred. Many people who think this way do because they think that it's the Christian thing to do - that is, be Republican. You know why.

I sincerely doubt that if you actually saw what happened in Iraq, the Persian Gulf, and Afganistan, you would retract your position on thinking it's the right thing to do to be of that Political orientation. Be careful not to swallow all the propaganda that they taught you in Sunday schools.

Only idiots who believe everything they see on NBC believe that.

Jimmy Carter is the direct cause for the radical muslims who hate America. They have publicly said so.
