Your lawyer should have all these details...if he doesn't or won't divulge them to you contact the Courts where the judgement was passed. Their records will indicate what the judgement actually was. There may have been legal fees, penalties, bills of all sorts that had to be paid from this judgement so check these two sources before you jump to conclusions. If you still have no luck, contact the Law Society in your area and explain your situation. They can then contact the lawyer and request he disclose this information to you (of course why he wouldn't anyway I don't know). If he chooses to avoid this he is risking being stricken from practicing...this can be considered fraud or misappropriation of funds and it carries serious consequences for the lawyer involved if proven. Keep in mind that this particular situation could end up running a 1-2 year course while the society investigates so it isn't something that can be resolved or straightened out over night.

You'll have to have all your documents in order to prove your case so anything that the lawyer presented you with regarding this suit should be copied and forwarded to the society if this is the route you go. If it happens the lawyer was not as anal about correspondence with you as he should have been...document this fact as well...there are several key areas that lawyers are to conduct their business under and failing to do so correctly can show up as detrimental marks on their permanent record.

Get onto it quickly however ... and don't back down if you think you've been had...

Good luck
