Do you talk fine when you are together? If so, then it's just a phone thing. Not everyone is great at talking on the phone. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong, it just feels a bit unnatural.

If this is an issue when you are together too, then there may be a problem.

After awhile, it's hard to make conversation over the phone or internet. There's only so much you can talk about before it's all old news. This isn't a you thing, this is an everybody thing.

I'd suggest actually hanging out rather than just talking over the phone. One of the greatest joys in life is just being with a loved one, and you don't even need to talk about anything.

Ask him how his day was. Tell him how yours was. Tell him an interesting situation/problem your friend/family might be having. Its just having conversation, stop trying to hard to make it happen and it will... and if you have nothing to talk about, than don't sit on the phone! When you do have something to say, it makes the phone calls actually enjoyable instead of akward and quiet. So next time he says to call, call him up, ask how he's doing, tell him you have dinner/homework/etc and get off the phone rather than sit there in silence.

I think the two of you are just bored of each other, that's it you have nothing else to talk about. I know I talk a lot whether I'm on the phone with my boyfriend or not.

That is such a good one because I am in the same boat with my husband. I think maybe I have figured it out though. Some people just don't know how to communicate easy. So I usually do most of the talking even if it seems stupid to me I just talk about it. Then I can usually get more out of him.

How your day went. How his day went. What happened at school or work. Last nights TV. How his favorite teams are doing. Ask his opinion about things going on in your life. Your favorite book. His favorite book. Ask him what he wants for Christmas or his birthday. Make plans for your next date or a special trip. What does he like or is interested in ... find a magazine or watch a TV show about it & talk about it with him. Share something your interested in with him. Tell him how your family's doing. Ask how his is doing.

I'm not a phone person myself. I don't think it's for everyone. I like to talk to people face to face to see their reactions.

Maybe you are just not the "phone type"??

get out a 3X5 card...

write down things that happened through out your day,
things you want to mention from the news,
questions you saw here on answers that you'd like to get his perspective on,
whatever...

then when you call him...you have a few things to say.

good luck!

if you don't have any trouble talking to him in person you shouldn't have any problem on the phone, but maybe you don't talk when you are together,,i dunno
