I know they say that the confusion and 'not quite with it' feeling goes after the baby is born, but I don't think my brains ever got back to normal. It feels like I'm thinking through cotton wool. Does anybody else understand what I am talking about?

Yes. I found my 'psychic' powers increased when I was pregnant; felt quite spiritual and introverted. You gain some things, lose others: my memory went, and I did silly things like go to the bus station to find the umbrella I'd left on the bus, no luck, only to get back & find the umbrella in the fridge. Had to write lots of lists & then forgot where I'd put the list, etc.

I thought it would go back to normal, at least after the sleepless nights got a bit better - but no. Memory still abysmal. Someone told me that your memory starts to go in your mid-thirties, which was when I was pregnant, so it was just a coincidence. So I'm stuck with it. Bad news, I know. Try brain-training, crosswords, intelligent conversation. Now where did I put that sudoku?

Iam 8 months pregnant, and I seriously wonder if i will ever be the same again. I seriously feel like my head is nothing but cabbage.

I dont know what it is, but having children makes you retarded.

Will I ever keep a sketch book again? Will I ever finish my novel? Can I ever putz around for the afternoon working on logic problems? Probably not, my brain has oozed from my ears. I sit down to do something like that and my mind automatically starts thinking "what does deep fried swiss and braunwiser taste like?"

My mom says it never goes away, after the hormone haze clears you have screaming children and a husband to think for, it leaves to time to think for yourself... lol.

Gets better after the baby is born???? My brain went to mush when I was pregnant and its still that way. My memory is completely gone. I feel scatterbrained all the time. It just comes from being a mom I think. At least you aren't alone huh?

Its all the sleepless nights that are finally catching up to you. I'm a mother of 2 and I'm so use to doing the mom thing that sometimes I don't even remember doing certain things cause I'm so use to doing them. Its like your brain is on auto pilot and you can't switch it off lol. I think all moms have had this at some point.

I have not been the same since i have had my second. Ever since then i can't seem to remember anything. I am always scattered brained and if it weren't for my mom, i think i would forget my kids!! all we can do is hope that things get better and our brains go back to the way they used to be!!

I agree with you. Sometimes I think my baby is smarter than I am. I guess you get into a routine and when u depart from it, it throws you off track. At work I'm fine because I know what my job entails but at home I feel like sometimes I'm incompetent. So I call my mother alot!!

Yeah, i do know what you're talking about, i feel a lot less clever since i had my child. (still birth though). At least you can see the reason that you feel less clever. I feel as though i lost half my brain cells through the pregnancy

Never tied it in but you're right. I used to have dinner parties and make home made profiterols and boeuf en croute and the like. After I had my son, I couldn't cook any more but it might pass. He's only 24.
