I suggest you go to a website of a billboard provider. Go to Clearchannel http://www.clearchannel.com , which is one of the largest billboard real estate owners in the United States. Go to their rate card page and you will see their rates categorized by:
- per city
- per type of media
- per target market
In Boston for example, a 30-sheet poster targeting the General Public can cost anywhere from $15,300 to $264,750 depending on the location and potential reach for a 4-week period http://ratecard.clearchannel.com/RateCardExternal/frameset.asp
In Wichita, the rate is cheaper for the same specs. The range is only from $1,150 to $14,400 for a 4-week total.

I have looked into this for my business. Depending on the city, the road, traffic count & of course the billboard size. The pricing ranges from a few hundred a month to a few thousand per month. Also, Keep in mind that alot of the billboard firms require a minimum of 2 to as many as 24 month committment to occupy the sign. Hope this helps.

How is renting a billboard spiritual? Usually, there's a telephone # underneath those things; just call the number.
