People can get headaches from strong or unattractive (to them) scents. I cannot abide patchouli, for instance. I know several people who get headaches from lily-of-the-valley. It depends upon the person who is sensitive.

BE CAREFUL Candles give terrible headaches I have one now from those big jar three wick candles and if you go to this site
keeper of the home she has a blog on candles and headaches and I knew it all along that some people import candles from China that are full of so many toxins that you wouldn't even imagine.

I had a relative I once lived with who would get headaches (he had sinus problems) from scented candles, any perfume I wore, and going into stores just drove him to sit in the car and wait while I shopped.

I do get headaches with scents. I think it has to do with the alcohol content in some of them. And I read that candles, if not made from beeswax or soy, contain harmful toxins and we just sit in closed rooms inhaling this crap.

lots of people do because they contain petro-chemicals, they don't really make your house smell better, these chemicals simply attach to the lining of your nose so you think the air smells better. They cause respitory problems and allergies in lots of people - you want to find a soy based candle that is made from natural ingredients - I have found a catalog company that offers these types of candles and a lot of other necessity products. These candles scent the air in your home and have burn times from 40-90 hours per candle and aren't too expensive.

Depends on the scent. Really sweet smells tend to give me headaches or upset my stomach.

Candles that smell like herbs, or eucalyptus tend to be the ones that I enjoy the most, and find the most comforting and relaxing.

candles have a small wire filament in the wick, this is toxic when burned. Some candles contain what you might otherwise be allergic to. Some people might say, take a bundle of smoldering sage and purify the air .

i heard that lit candles can give off i think it was carbon monoxide. enough to make you sick. someone did a study and found that walmart brand candles give off the most of the brands they tested. if you like having a candle scent in the home you could try those candle warming plates/discs. cant think of the name of them but they are round and plug in. you just set your jar candle on it and it melts the wax and gives off its fragrance w/o the harmful affects. once you melt the candle in this way tho, you wont be able to light the wick any longer. best to you
