Have you had an ultrasound done to determine that you are definitely 21 weeks? The only reason I say that is because I discovered this pregnancy in April and according to my period my due date should have been January 1, 2007. Then concerns told me that I should have an ultrasound done. When I went in for my 9 week checkup I told the midwife my concerns. She told me that if she felt for the baby and i felt further or less along that she would order on right then and there. She felt my tummy and she said it felt like I was 12 weeks and ordered the ultrasound. Needless to say I was right that I felt different like I was further or something and the ultrasound proved by the baby's measurements that my due date is now December 17,2006. I felt the baby moving around 19 weeks and I was not very skinny but average weight for my height when I got pregnant.

Honey you are right on time as far as feeling the baby move! I imagine that your friends are probably a bit jealous that they have not had that magical moment yet! Isn't it incredible?! That is about the time that I felt my babies move and it is correct as far as the medical information that we give mothers also.
I do think that being slender and small makes it easier to feel the baby move. So does lying on your tummy. I used to spend hours just lying on my stomach looking at catalogs waiting to feel the baby move. I suppose that lying on your tummy brings the uterus closer to the surface of your abdomen and makes it easier to feel the baby. All I know is that if I layed that way I would feel the baby move alot more than if I didn't! lol......
The movements that you feel now are fleeting and almost like butterfly wings, (some women have compared it to feeling like a tiny fish swimming around) but soon they will become determined little pokes. Before you know it you will be able to feel a tiny round head, an elbow, a little knee or the firm roundness of a small bottom! It is such fun and you have SO much to look forward to! Wait until the first time your baby gets the hiccups! That is a riot!
If you are lucky enough to not be working right now enjoy your time alone with your baby. Read all you can. A wonderful book is "What to Expect When You are Expecting". Buy your own copy as opposed to getting one at the library if you can afford it. That way you can write in it, make notes in it and really record all the little events you will want to remember. BTW, did you write down the day that you first felt your baby move? You will want that information later for your baby book and more importantly your doctor will want to know also.
BTW, please plan on breast feeding, even if it is just for a short while. Even a few weeks will give your baby immunities to SO many things. I nursed all of my babies and none of them ever got sick while I was nursing them! Plus it was the most wonderful experience of my life! Do consider it.
Take care honey, enjoy your pregnancy and if there is anything you forgot to ask feel free to write to me, I will always write back.
Love and Blessings

21 weeks is a good time to feel a baby. I felt much much earlier than that! 14 weeks with my son and 12 with my twins. No one believed me either until I could turn my head from the ultrasound machine with my son at 14 weeks and tell them everytime I felt a kick and they saw it on the screen. With my twins I guess I felt them so early because they were twins? My body thought I was 19 weeks at the time (I measured 7 weeks bigger pretty much my whole pregnancy) I am very slender and I think that had a lot to do with it

YES!!! For one it's COMPLETELY possible to feel movements at 21 weeks! I had a nonstress test at 19 weeks with my daughter (they calculate the heart beat rate during movements....I clicked a button every time she moved and they marked it on the paper where the heart rate was) and she was moving constantly! Plus, yes, being petite and/or thinner had more to do with it. Your uterus has less space to go into, and usually doesn't grow as large as an average women (which is fine) but because of the confined space, the baby has less room and the movements are felt easier. My DOCTOR told me this because I am only 5'2" (with shoes on). You're also likely to show sooner! Plus, with my second pregnancy....I am nearly 16 weeks and myself, my husband AND my doctor have felt movements with this one! Good Luck!

i felt this baby move at about 15 weeks.just the kittle flutters but i felt it.this is my 3 pregnancy so i am more aware of what it feels like too.and yes the more slender you are the earlier you can feel the baby.21 weeks is not early at all its actually pretty average.people like to put there two sense in when its not asked for expecially when youre pregnant.!!!tell them to go read what to expect when youre expecting.it says that movement can be reconized anywere between the 14 and 26 week.

I first felt mt baby move at 18 weeks, it was like a little bubble move from one side of tummy to other and moved back later that day and i wasn't showing then,im also a small build.
So basically the answer is yes you can feel your bambino move early and it never stops moving from that moment onwards :-)
and shes nearly 16 mths now

I first fel my baby at 18 wks and started felling real kicks at 22 wks,and this is my 1st baby. Ifyou are petite chances are is not too early to feel your baby moving but just in time.
