Recently Lineage II went on a rampage against the free server L2EXTREME... they got the FBI involved and shut it down.
Why do that think everyone can afford to pay $15 a month to play a silly video game? Honestly, with 500,000+ users Lineage is earning $7,500,000 a year!!
Don't they realize that if they'd be reasonable and charge $5 - $8 they'd more than triple thier user base? Especially considering the largest group who play are children and teens. I'd much rather play the commercial server, it's more reliable and hacker proof.

To be honest with you we all would like cheaper prices but society has increasingly moved in the direction o profit. The more money they can squeeze out o us the better. For every person that will not pay the fee to play there are usually two or more that would. Some I have found simply play cause others they know play. So until we as consumers take a stand and stop buying into the madness we can only be assured that prices will continue to rise. Or you can do what I recently did. I quit WOW (World of Warcraft) and I only play online games that have a ree subscription. I also plan to start a web site dedicated to advocating the boycott of WOW.

Online gaming is so expensive because they know people are going to pay, simple as that. Even shitty "games" like second life and RS get hundreds of thousands of Dollars every year. It's because people are suckers, and the general populace wants to be a part of the latest fad, the latest fad being WoW.
