I had to drive on Route 80 in February in an ice storm and it scared me. There were a lot of cars, trucks, vans, and semis off the road, some upside down, and I was terrified I would end up like them. But I didn't. I was fine.

Yep. I hit some black ice in the middle of nowhere last winter, and my car, my boyfriend and me, almost went into the frozen bay after swerving and almost rolling the car over... I really thought the situation was going to end A LOT worse than it actually did... thank god, luck was on my side that night. We both walked away without a scratch or hypothermia.

Yes. Years ago I woke in the night to the sound of somebody coming in though my bedroom window and then I saw him stand by the side of my bed. I had time to think, "So this is what it feels like - the worst is going to happen" and then I screamed - and the scream frightened me more than the man because it didn't sound like a female scream, it sounded like an animal - not civilised like in the films.

The story has a happy ending though. The man turned out to be my boyfriend, up from the south, surprising me with a weekend visit. Only I couldn't stop trembling all night and wouldn't go back to sleep.

Yep, my xhusband used to get drunk and threaten to kill me. Then it got to where he threatened even when he wasn't drinking, though maybe not as bold a killing. Its amazing how someone you've loved and trusted for years and years can turn for the worst and start abusing you in such a manner. It was so crazy and absurd that I truly was confused and scared for years, I didn't know what to do. I really had to lose myself and become something that I knew he would hate and wouldn't want around at all to get away w/out him coming after me. Its taken a long time to find myself again, but I'm getting there.

I used to float the river twice each weekend; and on one float, my tube bumped into a tree. I was being sucked under through the tube. That is the one time I thought I was going to die, but I pulled myself up and out of there. It was probably less than a minute, but it was very scary.
