All whites I know say he was justified in saying what he said because the hecklers had provoked him, because he only mean those particular Blacks, because what he said was essentially correct and that we haven't heard what the hecklers told him first to get him to react like that.

You know, it seems like a load of BS to me. They were not making all those excuses when Mel Gibson said what he said about Jews. And Gibson wasn't shouting threats to a Jew. Richards was threatening actual people at his show.

Why do whites gang together, even to defend that which is indefensible? Perhaps that's the secret of their success, perhaps the right thing for all races to do is to support your own even when you know they are wrong.

I don't know where you get your news but I don't hear anyone defending that sad sack for what he did. How can that be defended? On the same token, other than showing what a total imbecile Richards is, who was harmed? Where's the basis for this lawsuit the audience members are filing? Their feeling were hurt? Well, BOO FREAKIN' HOO.

First off what he said was very harsh and NEVER should have been said - however those two men paid money to hear his comedy. How many comedy shows have you been too that they actually allow people to heckle? I will not say that Mr. Richards should have said what he did but he was on stage and lost his composure.

Mel Gibson is another situation - he was alone, he wasn't on stage performing which can be stressful even for mega stars.

I dont' think that "whites" gang together, I know other races that feel that it wasn't appropriate but why get bent out of shape about it?? It isn't worth fighting over so he made some stupid remarks that he can NEVER take back and it will be with him the rest of his life but why should the rest of the world really care?

I think he has some psychological and anger problems....you can see how sad he got when someone basically called him a "has-been" and told him that the only thing worthwhile he did was Seinfeld. He kept saying "you're right" over and over again.
Kramer was also inexperienced with dealing with hecklers. After a while he just became mean, it was no longer a part of the act. All the greatest stand up comedians know how to make hecklers look like fools in front of the audience (George Carlin, Seinfeld, Chris Rock etc.)
I must admit though I loved him on Seinfeld (I've watched every single episode) but all his standup act (available on you tube) had no jokes...it was just him falling all over on stage. If you are not funny be prepared to get hecklers of any race...people don't want to waste their money.

This whole Michael Richards thing is out of hand. He was heckled and he lost his temper and said some horrible, awful things. People are right to be offended but what I find really offensive, obscene even is these hecklers have now retained that regrettable Gloria Allred as their lawyer and are looking for damages. Yet black people call each other that awful name all the time and they get a pass, I would bet those guys that heckled Richards have used the 'n' word on each other and probably even laughed. But Richards does it and they are 'hurt and damaged and scared'. Just how many milliosn do you think Allred is going to go for? It is a disgusting word regardless of who uses it. This whole thing has gone mad. Meanhwile back in Iraq....

I doubt Michael Richards is a racist (basically he's familiar with for particular, in spite of the undeniable fact that). He basically lost it. And confident, hecklers could be thrown out. And confident, the heckler DID initiate it. Having mentioned all of that, as a public discern (regrettably) those issues are going to take place and you basically won't be able to lose it. tutor some classification and cope with those issues interior the proper way. I heard a narrative that the popular comedian, pink Foxx, became into being forced in this type and mentioned something approximately like "i do no longer innovations if we the two save making fools of ourselves like this, becuase i often is the only making each and every of the money". this is a thank you to handle it!

I think the key is in that nasty word that was used. Once, saw a rapper on Oprah, she wanted that word not used at all but rapper defended himself by saying it was different when used with "a" on the end instead of an "er", she didn't agree. It's a bit confusing to some that if a comedian of certain skin tone can use the word with out consequences but an other can't...it seems a bit "off".

Mr. Richards went off the deep end and should have just ignored the idiots or had security kick them out. But instead he's busy running around making amends while millions of people are listening to that same nasty word in videos and music and enjoying it. Just plain weird.

Why do any races band together or religions? I personally don't understand it, why did African Americans band together on the OJ Simpson Trial? It seems it doesn't matter if you white, Jewish, Muslim, pink, orange or green if something is said that affect the group you fit in you tend to band together..I don't know the whole case with Michael Richards but I do know he said some racially insensitive things. It was wrong..I agree but in this day and age we take race and religion way to serious. Sometime we just need to look at these situations laugh, call them an idiot and get over it. There are to many stupid people out that just don't get it and life is to short to let them affect you.

Because everyone has a demon in him that once in awhile gets out. Everyone is a bigot and prejudice. We just hold it in and when things are going well everything is fine. But unfortunately when something goes wrong we don't blame ourselves we blame someone else and then ridicule the first thing we don't understand or know what will hurt them. We lash out at their race, religion, creed, lifestyle. Why? because we fail ourselves and blame others.
Mel drove drunk (his mistake). He took it out on the police officer who just happened to be Jewish. What if that officer was black?
Micheal wasn't having a good night at the club. He got heckled it comes with the territory. He didn't use his wit and humour(his mistake) he lashed out with insults and slurs. What if they were Jewish?
Chris Rock and the late Richard Pryor do it. They justify it as comedy and we let them get away with it. Why?
Why should we resort to being derogatory to our fellow man for our ignorance and insecurity? Why can't get just shoot from the hip and call it as we see it without stereotyping.

Peace and understanding be with you all!

I don't know who Michael Richards is, but I guess I believe him when he claim he only meant those particular blacks, and that he was provoked. I don't think Mel Gibson's remarks were nonsense ether, though he wasn't provoked by Jews in particular.

On the other hand, I find the media circus attending Richards going for an audience with His Reverence Pope Al Sharpton and an audience with His Holiness Pope Jesse Jackson ridiculous in the extreme. Why should he apologize to these men? And the real joke is, Jackson rebuffed him after the apology, saying it was rambling and not convincing. So another apology is on deck. Who to this time?

Let's have him apologize to Whitney Houston and 50 Cent. --Or go to the cemetery and apologize to the graves of Stepen Fetchit and Moms Mabely. --Or just pick a black person out of the phone book and have him apologize to a stranger next. Where does it end?
