If it is directed at you, Does it ALWAYS mean that they dislike you?

Some people exhibit defensive posturing as a way to feel protected themselves. Maybe they are insecure or nervous. You should always look for other cues in their posturing to determine if it is being directed at you due to dislike or maybe just unfamiliarity. Are they crossing their arms while standing, but talking animatedly? Do they refuse to make eye contact but otherwise appear to be interested in the conversation. Some people suffer from incredible bouts of bashfulness and insecurity. Make sure you are posturing they way you want to be seen. If you are posturing defensively without knowing it (as a lot of people do) you will find that you will get the defensive response from whomever you are around as well. It is a natural thing! :) Good luck!

Sometimes it may be as simple as someone stepping away from you. It may not always mean that the person dislikes you but may just mean that you are invading their personal space.
Some people don't like others to come too close to speak to them...they may prefer an arms length radius around them.
Facial expressions tell alot too!!!
Observe people closely and alot of times you will be able to read a facial expression to have an idea what that person is thinking about the present situation or conversation that they are in.

i think the most popular one is crossing your arms. i do this most of the time, unintentionally but it is a defensive posture. sometimes it means they don't like what you have to say. if you know the person well, they may just be joking. it all depends on the situation and the people involved.

The best example is of the crossed arms while talking to you.

There are many reasons why this might occur, but basically the crossed arms say "I'm not buying what you're selling me."
