As in cut on yourself? My neice does this and I don't really understand it, but my advice to you would be to ask for help. There are people out there that will help you. Depression is serious and if you are afraid to ask for help, there is help confidenitally. Good Luck to you.

Go to the doctor and explain how you are feeling lately. They can tell you whether or not you are depressed. You could just be going through a very stressful time right now, in which medicine is not going to help. I am actually going through this with my best friend right now. She cant sleep, she crys all the time but has no reason as to why, she wont open up to me, all sorts of stuff. She was just diagnosed with slight depression, in which now she is on medicine and is doing better. If you really are depressed, your friends are not going to be able to help, it is something that you and the doctors have to figure out. Good luck with everything, I can answer any more questions you have.

Hi. I don't know what's going on in your life or exactly why you are feeling so depressed, but I want to offer you hope. I know what it feels like to feel like you're in the dark and have no where to turn. When I've felt that way a little or a lot, I've always had one place to turn to, and one place where I knew I would always find love and hope and peace - Jesus Christ. I don't know if you've grown up in a church or not, but that doesn't matter. The hope I have in Christ can be yours.

Jesus Christ is God, born as a man on this earth. He lived a perfect life and, unlike all of us as humans, He never sinned. Because Jesus never sinned, He was able to earn for us the gift of salvation that we can never be good enough to deserve. No matter how hard we try, we will never be able to be perfect and keep all of God's commandments...have you ever lied, cheated, stolen, or even hated someone in your heart? Then you have sinned. Because we have sinned, we have earned death. Romans 3:23 says, "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." Although we have worked for and deserve death - not just physical, but spiritual death - we can have the FREE gift of eternal, spiritual life through faith in Jesus. Jesus lived, then died on a cross two thousand years ago. But after He died, He rose again, coming back to life three days later. Because He had power over death, Christ proved He was God and also has power over our death and our sins. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9 that "It is by grace you have been saved through faith. It is a gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." Just place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died to pay the penalty you deserve for your sins, and trust Him to save you. You don't need fancy words to tell Him that you want to be His child...just talk to Him in your mind. Then, try to find a church where you can grow as a new Christian and be encouraged as you struggle in life. Becoming a Christian does not mean your life will be perfect or easy, but it does mean that sin will no longer have complete control over you...you will have power over it through God's spirit working in you to overcome it. Without Christ, we have no hope in this life or after. We face a life without meaning, eternal death and torment in hell. But with Christ, we have the love of God that will produce His goodness in us - His patience, kindness, self-control, joy, peace, and gentleness...and we have the assurance that He will always be with us and never leave us.

If you are already a born-again Christian, having placed your faith in Jesus Christ, then you must know that God does not want you to hurt yourself. The Bible calls our bodies the "temple of God" and Romans 6 says that we should use our bodies to please and serve God. I want to encourage you to look to the Bible to find God's truth about the new creation you have become...you no longer have to be controlled by the sin in your life, but now have the power to overcome it and live an abundant life of joy and peace, despite difficult circumstances you may face.

I'll pray that you find God's peace and hope, and that you can look to Him to lift you from your depression and despair. Then, your life will be empowered by Him to change and become so much different and better.
