A sin is defined as a violation of the oath you made when you became Jewish or Christian to obey Biblical law. The Bible forbids all forms of sexuality except for the purposes of getting a woman pregnant. This means that masturbation, oral, anal, gay, and with birth control sex are all sins. Since very few Christians even know or care what's in the Bible, they simply ignore it. If you are neither Jewish nor Christian, I'm Pagan myself, you made no such oath, and therefor cannot be considered to have sinned.

Yes if you are Catholic both these things are a sin! In the eyes of the Holy Roman Catholic Church man is not allowed to have this much pleasure, sex is only for one thing and that is reproduction of the human race!
I think anybody who strictly follows this teachings must have to do a lot of laundry of their bedding! lol
I grew up in that tradition and I never masturbated. I was born gay but I grew up being taught that guys married girls, so even tho I am gay I got married to a women - big mistake!!! When finally came to terms with my true sexual orientation within my own life I finally started being way more sexual not only with other people but also with myself - my hand. I remember one time having a little contest with myself to see how may time I could bring myself to climax in a certain period of time! It was fun and feel good too. No wonder the Catholic priests get themselves into so much trouble with all these rule the are supposed to abide by and all these sins they are supposed to avoid in the area of being sexual. I don't know how the Catholic Church can expect anybody to repress their sexual desires especially when those are some of the strongest desires and urges that the human has.

Depends on your religion's interpretation of sin. Wanking and birth control are sins to the Catholics, but not to the Protestants.

That would depend on the type of sex...If conception is not a possibility then NO.(That's assuming you buy into the whole sin rationale.) Frankly I find it to be all just so much BS anyway.

If it isn't a sin, you're not doing it right.
