...people who are only brief acquaintances; or in fact you don't know them at all; end their e-mails, texts etc with a kiss (x). It drives me nuts. It's the sort of thing I did when I was a 14 year old school girl. You wouldn't kiss them at the end of every conversation you have with them so why do it in a text?

I find women who do this sickeningly "girly" and men, well, frankly, just plain odd. Is it just me or does anyone else boil with fury at this? I guess it's the same as people who use inappropriate affectionisims like "love" or "dear" or "babe" grrrrrr!!!

(Cue irritating reponses wiith kisses and inappropriate affectionisims - yawn - how predictable!)

It is a bit weird, but i usually just ignore it. I wouldnt use it for anyone other than the BF.

I would just forget about it, life is far to short to worry about someones sillyness

I do my utmost to avoid texts and texting. Putting a kiss at the end of a text or an e-mail, unless it was from my wife would be considered unusual... like why have they done that? What do they want? and not a chance... whatever it is they want!
I tend not to get angry with their choice of affectionate 'dear' 'love' etc... I just ignore it.
So.. no I don't boil with fury... I just treat it with the disdain it deserves at the time x x x (J/K!)

Well luv......it is the day & age that everyone likes to be freindly & happy. I don't see anything wrong dear with people beingfreindly whether you know them or not. What harm is it doing you apart from irritating you?. Some people do say "luv" "dear" or "babe", not just as an affectionate word but as the way they speak to people...i do it. It's just the way i am. If people find it irritating, then tough!. They accept me how i am. But, everyone is different i s'pose. Maybe you should lighten up a bit "hun", lol.

Yes, it is weird but try not to get so worked up about it. I met a fella who was an acquaintenance and he wanted to meet me for a drink. He referred to me as "babe" and "hun". This is standard behaviour for media type people but I call it butt kissing or sucking up. Some may say schmoozing.
I didn't return his text messages because the behaviour bothers me and I only choose to spend my time with sensible, honest people.
There IS an easy way to not be bothered by this - very simply: Don't associate with people who do it.

You would be surprised how many peopl edon't even think about that sort of thing. Mose people are just so used to doing that that it has become more a habit than anything else...I don't really thingk much aobut it either way...I don't do it myself...but it doesn't erally bother me one way or the other if someone does...unless it is someone that I don't actuall like and ahve told repeatedly to stop...THEN it bugs me...but that more because they don't flamin' listen...but other than that...

I don't mind just find it a bit silly ,I was brought up one day a week in the market Petticoat lane) and found older ladies didn't like being called dear or dux especially by young boys like I was.

I must admit I do agree to an extent. But I tend to find myself doing it because that's how I sign my name. If I remember in time I remove it from texts to people who are only acquaintances. But my friends don't seem to mind.
My apologies on behalf of everyone who does it unknowingly!

i use it when i text close friends but not brief aquaintances as i prob wouldnt text a brief aquaintance anyhow i'd ring them. Imagine texting your office partner and ending it in a kiss lolol it doesnt infuriate me, not at all as there are other things in the world that infuriate me more.
