There are several reasons a person might be motivated to be intellectually superior: power, fame, and success are just a few of the more obvious reasons. And its not just intellectual superiority that some people are looking for; some people just have an unquenchable desire to excel above and beyond all others. These people are your Mozart's, Newtons, Skinners, Michelangelo's, etc, so obviously there is something to it.

It's a need, an insatiable curiousity that drives someone to know. An intellectually stimulating upbringing coupled with a genetic predisposition to great intelligence can cause the thirst for knowledge to compare with the need for food and drink. It becomes instinctual, though unnecessary for continued personal existence, like the sex drive. Fulfilling these needs is a pleasure, one that keeps our race alive and pushes us towards a dynamic future.

He's extra-ordinary which explains his attractiveness among his peers. Like tall people stand out among the average height and large people among us average sized, you can pick out the ones excelling in normal winds! He's a gust while we're a breeze...His motivation is inward and even genetic. He cannot help that, but does what he only knows to do...keeping on!

in that group of blind sheep there will come a individual who has
his eyes open and ears listening to the spirit within, not to the
dogmatic laws laid on the ignorant mass.... when someone sees
truth and recognizes it that motivates him to listen and learn
from the creators spirit...
