Quoting a writer who lived several hundred years ago, "There is nothing new under the sun." Every idea, every plot, every character that you might think of, has been thought of, written about. However, the difference is: They haven't been written by YOU yet. You alone can give it your signature. As far as what sells, look around what the market is today. Find what sells specifically in your genre now. Whatever you do, remember, you are unique and the world has yet to see your point of view. Keep writing if you know you are a writer. Best of luck dear. :)

Writing is about taking the time to add as many adjectives etc... as necessary. Writers want to rush to the next idea, but they have to add as many details as possible in an entertaining manner.
Also, strange or untrue things can be more entertaining that true stories. In Sinners by Jackie Collins there was an entertainment star who didn't have sex regularly (terrible dating life), a young lady who hates sex, and a pervert who jerks off in plastic bags. It all made great reading, but it was quite a work of the imagination. It takes a dirty little mind to think up things outside the norm. I guess it eventually becomes lots of fun for the writer.
The minds of gangbangers would make for very interesting writing.

Just let the words flow onto the page. *Warning: this is kinda odd* Close your eyes and go to the very center of your being. Clear your mind and feel for the creative energy within you. Harness some of it and send it to your fingertips, keeping the rest in your mind. Now, open your eyes and write the first thing that comes to mind. This works wonders for me!

Read as much as you can. Read as widely -- in terms of subject matter -- as you possibly can. What to read? A teacher or adult you respect can give you detailed advice. With more quality "content" in your brain, your writing content will improve along the way.
And, of course, write EVERYDAY. A journal, a blog, whatever. Practice.
